Vision
As a long-time community leader, I have seen first hand how crime is undermining our communities. Too often, the crimes we see in our neighborhoods go unpunished. We must stop sending the message that there is no consequence for committing crimes against our homes and families.
My vision is to implement a program of Community Oriented Prosecution that will connect prosecutors directly with each police district and the community leaders in each district. Prosecutors will focus on the crimes that you see in your community every week and make sure that criminals know that there is a new approach and they cannot prey on our residents like they are used to.
A Plan to Fight Crime on All Fronts
In addition, I will:
- Invest the greatest resources in prosecuting and protecting us from the repeat offenders who cause the vast majority of burglaries, street assaults, car-jackings, and murders
- Stand strong for our most vulnerable, by pursuing domestic, child and elder abuse
- Focus on prevention by supporting youth groups and critical social services to combat the root causes of crime, while targeting gang violence with unwavering prosecution and strategies to prevent new recruitment
- Partner closely with schools to ensure that our children are protected from dawn to dusk

As Chairman of the County Council, I have worked tirelessly for safer neighborhoods, hiring hundreds of new police officers, shutting down violent nightclubs and removing strip clubs from our streets. I am well known for my work supporting schools, youth groups and senior citizen groups.
