Tom's dedication to public service and advocacy has led him to continue his career in public office. Tom is committed to making Prince George's County a better and a safer place to live and work. Tom wants to bring a renewed sense of committment, accountability to the State's Attorney's Office.
A Trusted Community Leader
As two-time Chair of the County Council, Tom worked tirelessly for safer neighborhoods, hiring hundreds of new police officers, shutting down violent nightclubs and removing strip clubs from our streets. He is well-known for his work supporting schools, youth groups and senior citizen groups.

- Tom Dernoga believes the key to a safe, prosperous and just county is building long-term partnerships between communities, the prosecuter's office and law enforcement.
- Tom sees firsthand how crime is undermining our communities, with many crimes virtually unpunished. We must stop sending the message that there is no consequence for committing crimes against our homes and families.
- Tom will implement "Community-Oriented Prosecution," connecting prosecutors directly with each police district and its community. Prosecutors will focus on the crimes in your community and stop criminals from preying on our residents.
